Just shot my first XD

Well ladies and gents, I've got a range report for you. I went to Ommelanden on saturday and borrowed Dave-in-Delaware's XD-9 service model. For all you ammo geeks, I used simple Winchester 115 grain FMJ for the shoot. Funny story about the ammunition though I went to Walmart and went to the sporting goods counter, there was no one there. I guess the ammo boy went to lunch, with the keys for the cabinet. So I waited for about 30 mins at the counter until a manager showed up. I asked him if he could get the ammo guy. He said he went to lunch and the guy took the keys. While I waited the manager said I would get a big discount so I stuck around. When the guy came back I got 200 rounds for 19 bucks. They normally cost 9.97 for a box of 50! So that was good. I then took my rounds and headed off to the range. This was my first time shooting and XD so I was a little skeptical but boy was a suprised. It was humanly impossible to aim this thing wrong. It pointed perfectly and the weight was great. I was putting groups in the black like you wouldn't believe! The only malifunction I had was a FTE which resulted in a double feed around the 4th mag I shot. I'm thinking this was the ammo. All in all though I had a wonderful shoot. I will definately be getting one of these soon!

I'm glad everything worked out for you.
Nice discount on the ammo too.

I've been very pleased with my two XD pistols.........

Good report, and great deal on the ammo. Are you planning on getting the model you shot (XD-9 Service)?

And here you thought all this hype about the XD's was just the biased opinions of their owners! Hah!!

I'm glad you had a great time out w/ the XD. Sorry for the FTE. I've only had one issue w/ my service model, and it was a FTF, which turned out to be a bad cartridge. I will still continue to use it as my daily carry piece, and trust it w/ my life.

I know you had a good time with it, because my "baby" came home all dirty and smelling well-used. I should have had you stay around for a field-strip and cleaning session. LOL.

Good deal on the ammo. That department at our local Wal-Mart is notorious for lack of staff. I was just there yesterday and saw a guy waiting for someone to help him!!

Glad to hear you shot it so well.

Where/When are you going to buy it?

Dave

You are the man for letting him have the pleasure of borrowing your girl. Guess he owes you time with one of his ladies now!

LOL. Well, I knew he'd bring her back. I had met him at our local OC meeting last month.

There's nothing like a good lady-swap, even if they do come home dirty. Wait, was that wrong to say?? We're talking about our guns... er, I mean our firearms....

Actually, this would be the second time I've let someone borrow one of my ladies, and the second time they've decided to buy their own lady (an XD of course!).

I'm Dave_in_Delaware, and my motto is: "converting them to XD's, one happy shooter at a time."

Well I am planning on getting an XD but probably the XD-40, or the XD-45. Right now I'm in the process of getting a cheap little bersa .380 to protect the wife for the 3 months I'm away in Afghanistan. I'm a government contracted chef for Lockheed-Martin. When I come back though I will have about 30 K in my bank. I might just say screw it and buy all three!!!

Well the problemo is the fact that ARAMARK (the company I work for) doesn't pay diddly squat. But I got a guy offering me a fairly good price on a practicaly new bersa thunder. It also comes with 70 rounds of Federal Hydra-shok JHP!!! That should tide her over til I get back.
