First time out
I just came back from the range about an hour ago.
First time I put my new XD9 through the a work out. 350 rounds of Winchester (Wal-Mart special!) without a hicup. At 25', I was shooting 2" groups but at about 2" left of center. I thought that maybe it was my trigger pull, so I asked one of the Range Masters to shoot my pistol. He ended up 5 rounds at an inch group at 1.5" left of center. Definately shooting left, I couldn't hit crap at 50'. So we took a look at the sights (factory Trijicon night sights), and the rear sight was about 1/16-3/32" off to the left. So just a little while ago I took the slide out to my garage and wrapped it in an old t-shirt. Using an 8" thick brass rod and one whack of a hammer, I ended up moving the rear sight over to the right. Not exactly straight, but more center than it was before. So I'll take it back out to the range tomorrow and see if its helped any.

Greetings from the West Coast!
Sounds like you're getting things worked out with your new XD9. Good news is it sounds like it's a solid performer and shoots without stopping. Sight adjustments may be annoying but easy to fix so not to worry. Just got back from the local gun show and also brought home a new XD9 with Trijicon night sights. I take it to the range tomorrow for a good workout. As always it's hard to sleep the night before...hoping all goes well. Keep up the practice...you're efforts will pay off. Stay Tactical - Wayne. |

You have some guts to take a hammer to the brand new gun! Welcome to XDTalk.

Well, the whack of the hammer did the trick.
It's right on center. As for my uncle's brand new XD9 SC, his new pistol shoots great. Man, I didn't think a 3" barrel could be that accruate. Makes me think that if I get a carry pistol, I'll get an XD40 SC.

Ah... nothing a big hammer cant fix LOL.
You got lucky you didnt damage anything. I am not sure what a smith in your area would charge to fix a sight setup , but next time might be a good idea to have someone take a look at it. Good job though, and I second you have guts to hit a brand new gun with a hammer.

Just picked up my XD9 two weeks ago. Put 300 rounds through it so far and she shoots perfectly, no issues what so ever. Curious to know what ammo everyone uses. I went with three 100 rnd boxes of winchester due to price.

Hello from orlando!
I got my XD-9 service with trijicons about a month ago I think. and it had been great...makes me want to double check my sights though. Mine seems just slightly to the left.....hrmmmm
