The top is for finding the target, the middle is for finding the front site, and the bottom one is for the back site. Now How do I line this up? I just point and shoot. ( I hope) ag4oa |

I also shoot with trifocals. I try to focus on the front sight as clearly as possible using my distance lens and it seems to work out pretty well.
As far as shooting with the hand different from your dominant eye, it is really no problem with a handgun. Just use your dominant eye to aim with. As to shooting with both eyes open, there is a very good reason for doing it. It reduces the stress/strain on the eye you are using to aim with. When you close one eye the one remaining open tries to compensate for the one being closed which will rapidly tire the open one. The reason bull's eye shooters and some archers will either cover one eye or the side of their glasses not being used is because by doing this they can keep both eyes open reducing the strain on the eye being used. |

The "correct" target is the one on the side of your dominant eye. If right eye dominant, it's the one on the right, etc. After a little practice, you don't even notice the "other" target. The central portion of your eye has the extrememly accute vision of the predators we humans are. But it's only a small area in the center of vision. You may find that even while focused on the front sight you can look "through" the sights to the target with the target still in reasonably sharp focus in your peripheral vision beyond the sights. Try it and see if it works for you. For me, the only way I can get it to "work" is to hunch my neck to lower my eyes and raise my shoulders, getting eye level as close to the plane of my shoulders (and the sights) as possible. Not sure why this is but at this stage it seems to work for me. It may be that that's the way to line up the central portion of my vision with the sights and the target at once. Give it a try.

me too!
I shoot the same because I hurt my right eye when I was little. I just recently started shooting with both eyes open. It took me maybee really trying to keep them both open, and shooting about 200 rds maybe about 2-3 times a week for a month. my accuracy and response from draw too shoot has increased tremendously (sp?)

I am the opposite of you, left handed, rt eye domonant. WHat I have done was to train using my non-dominant hand. I shoot rt for my rt eye dominance. What I found in my case was that my groupings actually improved @ 30ft+ on tha range. Muscle memory helped me get over using my dominant hand to shoot. Now, it feels funny shooting with my left hand. Hope that helped.??

I am left eye dominant, right handed too. I just started shooting with both eyes a few months back. Took me a while but I am getting used to it.
