I am glad my wife doesn't read this forum, she would freak out and not want me to go to the range again.

Me too

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I was at the range minding my own business when all of a sudden I felt a smack against my shin that made me jump. I kept my wits about me and unloaded my gun; the whole time thinking I had been shot in the leg and as soon as looked down I would see blood and the pain would set in. Well, I looked down, didn’t see any blood, didn’t feel any REAL pain, but I did see a bullet lying next to my leg. A couple lanes down from me a guy was shooting a .40 which must have
ricocheted and I could just barely tell the bullet was a .40. Not as bad as your story, it felt no worse than getting shot in the leg with a paintball gun, but it sure as hell surprised me and left a little bruise behind to remind me. Pics of the bullet below.

Wow...those are both real close calls.

Thankfully have not been hit but I have ripped my thumb open with a 1911 slide.

Ok, seriously - I wonder why the metal targets at ranges and match shoots dont do the same. Can someone "in the know" explain that too me?
It's all in the type of cartridge they are shooting, when the bullet hits those targets it turns to dust, someone else that shoots steel would have to chime in with that for me because it was just something they covered in my CCW course concerning the different types of ammunition.

Got another one for you. When I was about 16 my cousin and I were out shooting in the woods with .22's. We were both shooting some cans or something when we looked at each other talking. Suddently I saw blood trickling out of his nose. I said, "Man your nose is bleeding". He put his finger up to his nose and felt the blood. Then his eyes got big and he put his finger in his nose and started digging. I'll never forget the look on his face as his eyes got big and he started a panic look as he stuck his finger deeper than I knew a finger could go up a nose! All of the sudden he pulled a .22 slug out and a gush of blood. Bottom line is that he was ok. The bullet aparently had ricoched off a tree or something and gone up his nose as his head was tilted over looking down the rifle sights. The weird thing is that it went way up his nose and he never felt it. One in a million shots.
