Shot my first IDPA match with the Tactical tonight and I can definitely say that this weapon is now at the Top of Its Game. It's now up to me to catch up to the gun. It was flawless. The only error was my failure on a reload. I dropped a mag when it was to be a retention. Otherwise I would have been spot on. Ran it with the new 16# spring and the 147 Gr flat nose WWB and that was amazing. The gun was shooting absolutely flat. People watching me practice even commented on how I was managing the recoil. One Glock 34 shooter was bewildered that they couldn't keep their gun as flat. Lots of oooohs and aaahs over the Fusion finish and the trigger.

This is so much fun. I'm saving my pennies now for another Tactical in 40 or 45 Gap to setup just like this one for Limited/Limited 10. Do yourself a favor and buy a Canyon Creek Tactical or send yours in for service. Pay the rent next month. Do it now!!!!!

What spring did you run before the 16#, if any? The 16# is my favorite, I am glad you like it too.

Scott,

I ran the stock spring and guide rod up until this week. I haven't tried the heavier springs but I sure don't feel the need to now anyway. 16# feels just perfect for those 147 Gr WWB's. Now if I ever get into reloading I may have to adjust but I'm thrilled for now. BTW I also received my Bladetech and it was great as well. No comparison with the other holsters I've tried. Thanks for the quick delivery.

I am talking to CC right now about order a Tactical with their modifications. Pretty excited about it, since I want the weapon for IDPA competitions, also.

But I noted that one of the modifications is a Tungsten insert guide rod. Just so you know, these are expressly forbidden in IDPA (page 18 of the rule book).

That is an easy fix. Just install one of Don's Guide Rods instead, and you are 100% IDPA legal.

Just remember that it cannot be substantially heavier than the factory guide rod. In Don's FAQ, he mentions that his stainless steel guide rod for the Tactical model is 71% heavier than the original, which makes it illegal.

The rule is that a full length guide rod be manufactured of material that is no heavier than common steel. Don's Rod is legal for IDPA.

Thank you for pointing that out! Just to be sure, in normal language, can "common steel" include "stainless"? My fear would be encountering a hard-ass match director who declares that stainless steel isn't "common steel".
