FINALLY got to the range. Overall great time...some crap tho...

Hey all! I finally got to shoot my XD. I got fed up with the weather and decided to just go to an indoor range. Targetmasters in Chadds Ford PA.

First the crap. Per their website, I could use my own ammo...except for Blazer Brass. SO...I show up with my 400+ rounds of WWB. Guy asks to see my ammo. I said I have WWB. He said if it was the bulk box, I couldnt shoot them. Ticked me off. I started to ask why the site doesnt say that, but just wanted to shoot. So I bought two boxes of remingtons...friggin 12 bucks a box (50).

So...I get in there, and start shooting. First target was at 10 yards. And I swear to you...this is not a "fish story"..my very first round was almost dead center. I reeled the target in because I had to see up close if thats where I actually hit. The rest were a pretty decent group for my first time with the pistol.

Lower left of the orange circle was my first shot.

Next target was set at 15 rounds. There was quite a few high ones. But I think it was beacuse I tried a few double taps. And my second tap was alittle high.

The rest of the targets looked about the same. I used the last 10 rounds up as fast as I could at about 7 yards. THat was fun. And really controllable too.

Overall it was a great first trip. I LOVE THIS PISTOL!!! Comes to target really really easy. Recoil is really light. Trigger feels awesome. I can not wait to take her out again! I installed my houge grip tonight, so Im gonna give it a try next time out.

Anyway, that was my first range report.

Not a darn clue... They had a list of about 6 different brands of ammo that they wouldnt allow. Aside from reloads.... I was too frustrated to get into why, and there was a line of people to rent lanes.

Im going to see if they will let me shoot WWB the 50 round boxes... If so, and there is no noticable difference between the two shells, Im going to get a couple 50 round boxes, and fill them with the 100 round box ammo

I doubt they'll peel open the boxes and check the rounds themselves...but if they do, hopefully the two boxes have identical looking rounds.

That sounds dumb to me. I would just find a new range if I were you! But, if you don't have any other choices then I like the sound of your WWB smuggling plan.

Ive smuggled before. One range only allows .223 in soft point or hollow point, I occasionally sneak in FMJ.

Usually ranges like that keep the brass and sell it. Some bulk pack WWB has crimped primers and can be difficult for a bulk brass hog to take care of. Also think of private ranges like that as movie theaters, you have to buy their food at their sky high prices. Makes them more money. The guy wants you to buy his ammo to make him money.

The only indoor range in the area that is close and convenient requires that one buy ammo and targets there. Ammo prices are better than most any place else and quality is higher than the cheap stuff at WalMart. And you leave the brass.

But they allow you to shoot targets at any range (most ranges locally require that you run the target to the backstop) which I like as I like to practice combat double taps.

I do need to find a place outdoors so I can shoot my center fire rifles. Found a couple of suggestions for free locations on another forum. Going to have to check them out.

I didn't realize they crimp on the pistol brass.

What he should do is save some Remington boxes or pull some out of the trash next time you go.

Then fill it with WWB.

It really depends on the lot too. I have seen WWB with crimps and no crimp. 9mm NATO made by Winchester has a crimp but it looks like any other WWB.

Yeah Im not quite sure what Im going to do... But I kept my two remington boxes that I bought from them.

Like I said, Im going to check to see if they'll let me shoot the 50 round white boxes. If so...and the rounds look the same, then Ill just start the smuggling ring. If they find 100's of rounds they cant use, and it somehow comes back to me, Ill just play dumb and say...well i dont know, thats what was in the boxes. haha. Unless they make me return my empty boxes to them.

The range otherwise is pretty cool. Targets can be placed anywhere out to 30 yards. Rapid firing is allowed as long as you dont shoot their ceiling. We'll see...
