XD40SC range report
Well I headed down to the range yesterday with the XD40SC and put 50 rounds through it. It had a bit more recoil than I was expecting (more than the Glock 23 I also took with me).
That being said it's a sweet pistol. I have not actually popped a cap in a pistol in almost 20 years. After the first magazine I was able to double tap the head of a standard target at 7 yards without problem. Out of 40 rounds I only had one outside the head and 3 grazers. Not bad for a half blind old fart with bifocals. I managed to pretty much duplicate that with the Glock 23 and my XD45 Service 4". I was delighted in how well the XD45 shot. |

It takes more force to move a heavier gun. Small and light guns with a big caliber like a P3AT kick a lot. The more weight there is in the barrel of a gun the more force will be required to move it.

Thanks for the report. My wife was shooting my XD45 Compact last weekend and liked it because the recoil was less than her 1911 so I bought her a .40 SC on Tuesday. I was told it would have about the same recoil as my Compact. Would you say that is a reasonable comparison to your 4" Service?

The greater felt recoil of the XD SC may be due to a lower bore axis on the Glock.

nickb is right. The felt recoil is pretty close to the same. But the 40SC has a lot more snap to it.
