today's report

took the XD40 out today for the second time since I bought it last week. I had put 100rds through it last week with 2 failure to feeds. I was printing low left consistently.

Today I went out and put 250 through it with 2 failures. Both are where the round is getting hung up on the feed ramps and not chambering all the way. I was printing low left and couldn't figure it out, I didn't think I was jerking the trigger or anticipating recoil, so I had someone watch me. Long story short I was dipping the muzzle when I pulled the trigger. I spent 150 rounds in groups of five after that trying to fix my technique. When I ran out of ammo, I was consistently shooting center axis about an inch below the bullseye. I called it an improvement.

I also took my fobus paddle holster out for the first time. It is comfortable and easy to draw and holster with. I could never wear it as a concealed holster because it sticks out like crazy, but for range use it is a great holster.

I am tempted to go and pick up another 100 and head out tommorow and shoot some more, but at $23 per 100, I'm not sure...we'll see. Might just take the .22 squirrel hunting.

LOL at the low shots- thats what I was doing! I haven't worked up the courage yet to bother the neighbors to work on it. Neighbors haven't said anything actually, so I am joking around about that!
