First range trip since Springer trigger job and TFO's!

Well, I got my XD40 Service back from Scott this morning so I had to go hit the range ASAP to see how the trigger feels. I gotta say, this is an entire new weapon... as many of you know. I'm in love with this thing all over again. I'm a relative newbie to shooting and have only owned the XD for a few weeks now. I had put 500 rounds through it, then sent it to Scott last week. I shot 200 rounds today and I can see my improvement with each group.

I've got a problem with most of my shots hitting a little high and left. I'm off to look at the correction target right now to see what that suggests. I shot from a rest for about 10 rounds to see the difference and I confirmed that I'm the root of my problem of shooting left. Here's a decent example of this condition with a decent grouping.

One of the range employees recently bought an XD45 and is stock. I let him shoot my new and improved .40 and he was very pleased with the trigger work. I'm sure he'll be sending his to Scott soon. He gave me a handful of left-over .40 rounds that he didn't have any use for. Seven of these were a hollow-point of some sort, so I gave them a shot. Here's the result of those.

Now, I'm very anxious to find out what brand of rounds these were since they seemed to be very accurate in my gun. He didn't know what kind they were, they were "leftovers" from his grandfather. These are a silver colored casing with "FC" and "40 S&W" on the end. I'm not real familiar with all the different ammo options, so I don't know what this one is.

Needless to say I'm quite excited to keep going back to see how I improve over time. Have a good weekend everyone.

Mike

FC is Federal Cartridge, if I remember correctly, they are most likely "Hydrashock" as they are the most common Federal JHP.

Did you see the bullet end of the round? Did it have a "Stick" sticking out of it?

Thanks guys. Yup, they musta been Hydra-Shok then. They did have a little "stick" in the center of the hollow-point. I may have to try a new box to make sure this wasn't a fluke. lol This may have to be my defense round since I haven't tried anything for defense yet.
