Range Report

I decided to finally post my report after a couple of times at the range.

Let me start by saying this. I looked at every make of pistol from Kimber to Sig,asked questions, read comments here,etc...before settling on the XD-45. It just felt" right" in my hand and I had my head set on a .45 acp.
So, I settled on the XD. When I got it though I was a little disappointed with the trigger pull.It was a long heavy pull so I had it shipped to the factory and the combat trigger job and night sites installed on it.
All I can say now is it is incrediable.

I have taken so far two combat pistol classes with it and my third is next Saturday.
I have fired that pistol in the first two classes in excess of 1000 rounds. I have had only one malfunction and it was the fault of the ammo not the pistol. By the same token I have seen a Kimber in my first class jam every second-third shot( I am not making this up) and finally the student gave up and packed up her range bag. This happened not quite as bad,but enough to hold up an entire class when I took the CCW class as well. Had the Kimber issue been one isolated incident I would have written it off as ammo or mags.

Accuracy has been much better than I expected. All of my grouping have been consistently in the chest area.
When Springfield Armory says they have developed a point and shoot pistol they meant it.

My only complaint what so ever with this weapon is this.
The magazine release is very stiff. When the mag is full and you are attempting an
administrative(in the holster) reload, it is pretty hard to press to release the mag.It is way harder to press and release a mag than my Glock.

That is all I can think of at the moment. Hope it helps.

It's supposed to be hard when the mag is full. Don't want people dropping their mag by accident when the SHTF. If you push up on the mag while pressing the release it will be easier.

edit: actually I thought about it and I don't know if it's "supposed" to be that way, but there is a benefit to it. The reason it is hard is because it has to lift up the mag slightly to release and obviously a full mag weighs more than an empty mag.

Glad you like the .45. Easily my favorite.

I'd consider an extended mag release. I got one from Springer Precision and it's much nicer than stock. I went with the mid-length version, not the big one.
It could also be polished too for an even smoother action. I'm going to do that to my next one and my current guns soon, just for kicks.
My slide release works beautifully, and isn't hard with a full mag either.
Also, I always spray clean the inner slide release parts and relube with Gun Butter each time I clean.
