If you're not going to carry go with choice 1.

What about the 9mm SC and an XD45 as a choice?

I would definitely go with some combination of a 9mm and a .45ACP. In fact, I did.

I do not see why...

You reload, so thats a plus.

As, long as you can adjust to shooting both calibers, I think you'll be fine.

Go with the 9mm. Commerical ammunition is cheap and you can get surplus pulled bullets to reload with.

Plus the XD was first designed for the 9mm, it's The original.

Unless you are availability restricted to a XD45 Tactical I would say the best combination is a XD9SC and a XD45 Compact. Both can be concealed well and with the XD45 Compact you get the best of both worlds (10 and 13 shot mag capability). I hesitate on a XD45 compact Tactical only because the 5" barrel would be a little harder to conceal.

By the way you will notice that I have the XD9SC and XD45 Service combination, the XD45 Compact was not available when I got mine and I don't want to go through removing the TFO sights to install on a new Compact.
