Thumbs up New to XD-40 and Gun Ownership

After extensive research and loaner gun fees, not to mention the cost of buying 9mm and 40 cal. ammo, I took the plunge and bought a bi-tone XD-40, service model, the other day for $469. Going to the gun store, I intended to buy the 9mm, but when I got there all they had was 40 cals., apparently I was 10 minutes too late. So I got the 40 cal. instead. In the 40 cal. I shot the best with the M&P and XD. XD won out because of the safety features and better history. The M&P is fairly new so I will wait and see.

The next day, which is today, I took it to the range with Blazer ammo ($9.27 @ walmart) and put 170 rounds. My first 20 shots proved to be about average for me, I handle a 9mm better with more accuracy but the 40 cal. is another story. I'm sure I'll get better with more time.

After the range, I brought it home to clean. My first cleaning job, which was a bit of a challenge not having every seen a gun cleaned. I'll save that for another thread. So far so good. I'll report back at 500 rounds.

Enjoy the .40. It's a great gun, and there is plenty of info on the net for cleaning guns. Just take your time and have fun.
