XD45 Compact First Day

NIB XD 45 Compact (first .45 ever owned)
Cleaned thoroughly with CLP (including mags), then wiped almost dry except for slide grooves and springs.
13rd mag used only (to get extra grip length).
Outdoor range - 33 degrees, less than 5 mph wind
Shot at 25 yards - Pistol Slowfire targets (Score Keeper)

1st target: 10 rds seated at bench w/ sandbag rest on forearms.
All ten shots in a vertical string 11 in. long, 3.25 in. wide. 3 bullseyes

2nd target: 10 rds seated at bench w/ sandbag rest on forearms.
3 shots in the 6 ring, 2 in the 7 ring, 3 in the 8 ring, 2 bullseyes.

3rd target: 30 rds standing
29 shots on the paper, 9 of them in the 5 ring, 7 in the 6 ring, 5 in the 7 ring, 2 in the 8 ring, 3 bullseyes.

This gun is very smooth to shoot - much better trigger pull than my 9mm. My last target proves that the gun is much better than I am as all shots were equally distributed on the target as far as right and left high and low.

Probably going out again tomorrow for 100rds.

Very pleased with the purchase of this gun, and thanks to all the knowledgable posters on this forum who provided all the info on this fine piece of machinery.

Congrats on the Compact and nice shooting, considering the distance. You'll find much better results in the 7-15yd range, which is where the XD45 shines! It's a terrific personal defense weapon and fairly accurate for what it does, but 25yds is a stretch for this gun if you compare it to the accuracy of a 1911

Our local State range (DNR) allows only 25, 50, 100 yd distances at the moment. The handgunners are petitioning for a 10 yd section to be added. We'll see what happens.

Ammo

WWB (Winchester White Box) from WalMart - $26.97/100. ($28.59 incl tax)

Haven't had the chance to go out again - weather got cold. Heading to Memphis tomorrow to visit my brother - may get to his gun club with the XD.

Latest firing report

Shot at range near Memphis over the weekend. First time I was able to shoot at 7 yds. 200 rds fired.
When I took my time (approx. 1 shot every 5 seconds) I could put 20 shots into a 3.5 inch group at 7 yds.
When I shot 20 rds. in 15 seconds with a mag change after 10rds. the group was out to 9 inches at 7 yds.
Guess I need more practice and probably look into reloading.
Finally coerced my wife into shooting my .45 (she has a J-frame S&W .38 spl). Her first ten shots at 7 yds. - three bullseyes (1 3/4 inch) rest of them within 8 inches. Now she wants a .45 Tactical XD!! This could get expensive.

What range did you shoot?
