Cold day at the range
well, i finally found a flat dark earth XD. i got the 9mm tactical model. great looking gun, it matches my latest AR. i just built a 6.8 in all FDE magpul furniture. i'm sorry, getting off topic. i ran a number of assorted hardball with no problems, same with the HP styles i had on hand. one note on the Speer GD 124gr ammo, it ran fine, but when i tried to eject the last round by hand at the end of the day, i found i could not rack the slide. on the fifth try, i got it to reluctantly give up the cartridge. i then tested the other ammo on hand, it all hand cycled perfectly. this pistol just did not like the gold dots, although it ran fine under its' power. weird. i will look into this further. i have never had this trouble with my glock 34 and all my speer is from the same case. anyway, the gun is great and runs like a champ, i will be purchasing a second identical pistol as a backup.

Mine runs Dots all day, maybe it was a gum/stick issue. Have you ran laquered ammo through it before? |

that's the weird thing, it will function perfectly when firing the speer ammo, but if you try to hand cycle the gold dots, they hang up the slide and are extremely hard to eject. it is like they are snagging on something on the way out. it takes a hard, hard jank to rack the slide and eject the round. all other ammo is easy to hand cycle. i don't use lacquered ammo in my pistols, to lazy to clean up any mess. i only shoot new, quality ammo. saves headaches in the long run.

XD's don't like being hand cycled. Unless the slide goes back into battery with quite a bit of force, it's not uncommon for the round to jam against the feed ramp. The fact that it feeds just fine during firing, is a sign that all's well.

the gold dots have no trouble feeding while hand cycling, they bind the slide and don't want to eject without great force. not very handy when trying to clear the chamber for cleaning, etc. i will just find another suitable HP round for carry, no biggy for me. i just thought it was odd enough to mention in my review.
