Shooting with Mom(pics included)
These are targets from a trip made a few weeks back. My mom wanted to try out a handgun and I, being the dutiful son went along to help out
My mom used the Ruger but wanted to quit 2 shots in, she fired the last 4 shots and we went back out for a .22, Ruger Buckmark, I think. I ended up with the .38 wadcutter and a small splatter targt that she had got for the .22. The woman behind the counter came back with us to give my mom an in depth how to with the use of the .22. No one was at the range at the time other than us so we were able to stand and talk without our ears on. My mom found that she was left eye dominant(not really a surprise to me she is also left handed but she pretty much does things with her right hand. Teachers when she was in school made lefties write with their right. That sometimes causes problems with people especially when they're kids but back to the range). My mom can't really close her right eye on its own for using her left to aim so there was another little thing to get over. Well when my mom was all set(the woman made an eyepatch for my mom's right eye with a bandaid and a cotton patch). We shot and she did well in my opinion. I went through the .357 and .38. The .38 was rather quite after using some of the magnum rounds and then when I switched back after finishing a box damn it was loud! 50 rounds .357 Magnum into the larger splatter target and 44 rounds of .38 Special into the smaller of my targets. Then came the .45 I only have some pics of my first target up which I shot 18 rounds at. 2 mags plus a loaded chamber with each 8-round mag. 8 shots to the body then one headshot. Then 8 shots to the head and one more into the body.(Note: the flier in the body was from the original 8 shots the 9th was with the rest of the group. The bottom most hole in the head-seen at the left bottom corner of the group-was the 9th round from the original string). We each went hme happy. And she is liking going with each trip(the original intent of her going with me to the range was for her to get over her fear of firearms and we're doing a good job there. Although the first time out someone rented the Desert Eagle .50AE) She can now squint her right eye enough to aim with her left. She seems to be more accurate shooting left-eyed/right-handed and has decided to stick with that now. Her left-eyed/left-handed doesn't make the target she says. I must say that she does hit accurately when she shoots right-handed. took my mom to the range about ten years ago. She flinched and shot out the lane lights above the target. I have tried out door to she jumps while pulling the trigger and does not listen to me when I tell her to relax.
