New XD-357 First & Second Range Session

Just took my new XD-357 to the range. I ran 100 rounds of 147 gr. Atlantic Arms Remanufactured FMJ ammo through it and had problems about every third round. It would not go into battery completely and I had to push on the rear of the slide to clear the problem. It looks like Atlantic didn't resize the brass properly and the stock captive spring in the XD seemed pretty weak. I then purchased 200 rounds of 125 gr. S&B FMJ and 200 rounds of 125 gr. PMC FMJ. Those 400 rounds ran through it without any problems. I mean it was 100% so I can only assume the stock captive spring was a little weak. I also shot 40 rounds of 110 gr. CorBon Pow-R-Ball and 40 rounds of 125 gr. PMC Starfire Hollow Points. It loves anything factory loaded.

Second Range Session:
I installed one of the Don's Guide Rods and a 24 lb. spring. Man is this thing sweet. Much less recoil with the 24 lb. spring and now feels like a 9mm instead of the hotter 357 sig. I also tried 100 rounds of the remanufactured Atlantic ammo which it didn't like before but with the DGS it eats this stuff up. Time to send the top end, the take down lever, the slide stop, and the mag release off to have it refinished in Coyote Tan and to have TruGlo TFO sights installed.

Good report. Could be on the first outing that the
problems could have all been caused from the ammo
that you used.

Shoot that 357SIG. It only gets better. Good call
on the 24# spring.
