My new xD-40 range report

Took my new gun to the range yesterday, here is my impression so far:

Started with 100 rounds of Wolff ammo, to break-in the pistol.
I got several FTE's, couple of FTF's, and four times the gun didn't return to battery (oh oh). First time that ever happens to me with Wolff ammo and a brand new pistola.

After that, I cleaned the gun and switched to American Eagle ammo. Fired 50 rounds. Only got one FTF, and twice the gun didn't return to battery (crap!). Maybe the factory recoil spring is too weak

Cleaned the gun once again and switched to Federal Hi-Shocks 165grs (one of my favorites). Accuracy is acceptable. I was able to consistently put all 12 rounds in a 4 inch circle at 15 yards, two-handed, slow fire. No FTF's this time. Gun returned to battery at all times. In time I expect to tighten the groups.

Recoil is surprisingly manageable. Follow-up shots are a breeze. I'll try hotter loads and see. Also, I need to try a few rapid-fire drills.

I'll be going back to the range on Sunday. Expect a follow-up on this report.

Miguel

Follow up:

Another trip to range today with the XD-40. This time I used CCI Brass 180gr FMJ's, 200 rounds.

I'm happy to report that the previous issues are gone, for good. Not a single hiccup this time. I am very pleased with this weapon. It's a keeper.

My 4" XD 40

I had the same problems using PMC ammo. In my first 300 rounds I had about 10-15 instances with the pistol not returning to battery. I put another 400 rounds through it two days later. On the first mag I had it happen one more time. Since then no problems.

I have had no problems with my 3" XD 40.
