Impressed!!!
Purchased my first XD a few days ago and yesterday I had some time to go to the range. I have an XD-9 Service Model that shot everything I fed it with no FTE or FTF. Although I only had FMJ ammo to use, the three different brands all were equal in shot grouping. Altogether I shot 150 rounds and consistently every magazine produced groups of 3-5 inches from 25'. All virtually were in or around the center of the target.
I was very impressed with the pistol. Smoother trigger than I expected it to have and the gun has excellent balance. Do not care for the holster or mag holder included in the kit and the loader is only marginally helpful. Will explore the various sources I read about in this forum to improve these assessories. Have ordered several different types of ammo to include hollow point and ball and look forward to the next trip to the range. I far as I am concerned, the favorable comments I see on this forum understate what an excellent pistol the XD is. oldhunter |

In New York State, only 10 rounds. Don't know for sure in other states. Should be enough to do whatever is necessary under 99% of the circumstances.

If you use a 12 round 40 mag you can do 17+1, or you can use the 16 round hi-cap 9 mag.

Impressed
Dear Oldhunter, I too am impressed with the XD9. I have a 9mm sub-compact and am very pleased with it. points well, recoil is pleasant and accuracy is VERY good (some recent reloads shot under 1.5 inches at 10 yards). I find this amazing, considering the short sight radius of the 3.5 inch barrel. This is my first xd and I love it. Good trigger, good ammo capacity, easy to take down and clean and 100% reliable. I've shot abut 800 rounds through mine and the accuracy only gets better.

Second trip to the range today with XD-9. This time with my son and grandson along with several handguns, a .22 semi auto rifle and .17 Henry lever action rifle. Also had a .410 single shot barrel for the little guy to blast away at targets and clay pigeons. He also shot the rifles and a .22 revolver.
The XD performed as perfect as one could ask for. My accuracy improved but my son just fell in love with this pistol. He is a better handgun shooter than I am but today it was even better than normal. My best at 25' was equaled by him at 50'. I shot 50 rounds and he shot 200 rounds. He was shooting 10 round mags that averaged 4 inches or less at distances between 25-50 feet. Was virtually shooting out the center of the targets. All were taken while standing, no bench shooting. Used WWB, American, S&B, Magtec & Remington FMJ & Federal HP's with no significant changes in grouping. After a while, I just loaded magazines for him to shoot. Soon there will be another XD owner because when we returned to the house, he immediately began the process we all know as "working on our spouses" as to why he needs another handgun including showing everyone the evidence in the targets. All in all, a perfect day shared with family. oldhunter |
