WWB FTE in xd 9 service

Hello all,
I have been wanting an xd for quite sometime now. I found a used xd-9 service at a pawn shop and got it for $340 with 2 mags, case and xml light. Very happy with that!! But here is the problem, It doesn't like WWB 115 or 124 gr. over 12 fte's in 200 rnds. I lost count b/c I just wanted to shoot the darn thing. And it is not very accurate. I am usually a good shot. the best group was about 6 inches at 10 yards free hand. Sat at the bench and could not hit a large wendy's cup elevated to the same height as the benchrest at ten yards. I love this gun but I was expecting better than this. Also the stupid man that had the gun before me got a little happy with a dremel tool and "polished" some parts of the barrel that were starting to show wear!!! Sry this is long :P I am going to try some remington umc and cci blazers and see if I have FTE's then. This is going to be my concealed carry if it starts working and can prove itself to me. Anyone else having probs?

No. Even with my barrel having a problem and being shipped back for warrenty work, it still shot without ANY FTE's with WWB 115 and 124 jhp ammo. Its also as accurate as I can shoot.

I have the 9 sub.

I think you need to work on your trigger pull. The XD is known as a reliable, accurate firearm.

Thats pretty non-typical for an XD. Any idea how many rounds it had through it before you bought it at the pawn shop? To me, thats too many failures to ignore.

I would guess that the polishing in the barrel might be atleast part of the problem with the accuracy. I've been told that if there's just parts that are "polished" that could throw the bullet more of a tumble like an old musket. I can't say that I've ever had the problem with FTE, I've got 300 rounds of WWB through mine and a few of my friends have over a thousand rounds through theirs without any of the problem.

I put 300 rounds through the rental gun as fast as I could load and unload it accurately. NOt a single problem.

The pawn shop had the gun since Dec. 04. I called springfield and found out that it was manufactured in March 2004. Unless the guy took it out and shot it everyday, it should have many rounds threw it. Maybe this is why it was in a pawnshop in the first place with all the FTE's. Springfield said they would fix it to shoot WWB if I want a "loose" pistol. The guy I emailed said there would be no lifetime warranty since I bought it used, but the Lady I called said she would fix it under warranty. If it doesn't work with some sort of cheap practice ammo then I will send it in for repair. Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket barrels? I'm pretty sure it's the barrel thats making the accuracy problem. Sitting at a bench rest and consentrating on control should have fixed my imperfections as a shooter.

Have someone else shoot it to make sure that it really isn't you.

My wife, my dad my mom, one of my friends and some guy that I met at the range. All shot it with the same results. I always have friends with me at the range.

Hmmm..

It's a shame it doesn't like wwb. I have about 600 rounds of wwb through my xd9 and it eats it like candy. Anything else for that matter.

Good luck. I hope switching ammo fixes your problems.

Good news. It was not me that was making the gun fail. It was just that the gun doesn't like WWB. I shot 100 CCI Blazer brass 115 gr FMJ, 50 remington umc 115 FMJ, and 50 independence 115 FMJ. No problems whatsoever. Accuracy with the CCI was excellent. The group was about .5 inches wide and about 2 inches tall at 10 yards free hand. 4 of the rounds were touching. Finally I have the XD that I have been reading about. One more thing...I don't believe in the limp wristing of this gun. With these 3 brands I shot today it was impossible to have a FTE. I held the gun as loose as possible until I almost dropped it. My conclusion is that WWB sucks and I will never shoot out of my xd again.
