Second Annual OFCC/TDI Fun 'n Gun...Pics
I and three friends attended this event last weekend.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry would like to invite our members to join senior OFCC staff at the Second Annual OFCC/TDI Fun 'n Gun! This fun event will be hosted by the Tactical Defense Institute, Ohio's premier tactical training facility. This event will be a combination of basic tactical training and IDPA type scenario shoots. Geared for both beginning and advanced shooters, it promises to be a day of fun for all. Join instructors from both TDI and OFCC as we kick off spring with a bang! 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to the OFCC Political Action Committee to help fight to get representatives elected to the Ohio legislature who will represent YOUR rights! Last year, this event sold out early, so don't wait to sign up! When: Sunday, April 2nd 9am-5pm Where: Tactical Defense Institute 2174 Bethany Ridge West Union, OH 45693 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had no experience whatsoever with tactical shooting and this event was meant to introduce us to IDPA type shooting. Experienced shooters also benefited from the “fun” factor and practice opportunity. You could bring as many handguns as you wanted and were required to have a strong side hip holster IWB or OWB and a magazine holder. They ran us though different IDPA stages outside and inside buildings designed for training. The instructors were very professional and you could tell they were pros at handling an event like this safely. There were no incidents. It was held at the Tactical Defense Institute – a very impressive place. http://www.tdiohio.com/ Talk about fun! After getting over my apprehension and nervousness I started to get used to the routine of quickly drawing, shooting rapidly, reloading, making the XD safe then re-holstering. My biggest thrill was firing my XD40, with the 9mm barrel, with its recent Canyon Creek trigger job. WOW! The 3.5 lb pull and shortened action made shooting quickly and accurately an absolute breeze. Shooting where you pointed was much smoother so accuracy was easier! They scored you on every stage on an IDPA form. Several scenarios inside buildings were very interesting. They timed you as had to peek into a room, find the correct target and score the required hits and proceed to the next room…yes, I shot the good guy once dammit. And shooting at metal targets gave you that satisfying PING sound when you hit it. They really give you a diverse taste of tactical/IDPA shooting, and was definitely worth the $100 for the all day event. I plan to take some of their handgun courses in the near future and next years Fun’n Gun for sure. This is me shooting around a barrier. ![]() These are the guys I went with. The guy in the middle is an ex-Green Beret who served in Vietnam. He was just amazing to watch, especially since he did almost every stage with a big cigar in his mouth! ![]() ![]() Tom
