Is it me or my XD
Made a trip to the range today. I shot another 150 rounds of 115 gr. WWB through my XD9. I made a point of practicing some of the fundamentals that I've read about on this and other sights, and I must say that I shot better than I usually do. However, I still consistantly shoot to the left of center. I put 50 rounds into a silhouette and while I generally hit where I was aiming (center mass, melon) you could have bisected the target and 98% of the hits would be to the left of the Y axis. I've improved my grip, used more trigger finger, and done a lot of dry fire practice to avoid anticipation, but I'm still hitting on the left side of the target. When I consciously aimed at the right side I hit it, but the shots tended to hit left of my POA. Shooting from a rest I put 5 out of 5 rounds dead center at 10 yards, but off hand is a different story. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Have you tried letting the rangemaster or another "good" shot try and see if it is you or the gun?
Whenever I think my sights have moved I'll let the rangemaster shoot a magazine or so and I have found, YMMV, the problem was always me. It tends to be kind of humbling. Wow, all the shots in a silver dollar size grouping.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried the correction target, and it did help to a degree. I guess I need to continue using it. Any chance my XD just doesn't like the 115 gr? I've shot 124 gr before and it seemed to be more consistant. I just always go for the 115 because it's cheaper.

YES......
Try 124 and 147gr. Also there can be great differences in the brands of ammo. My XD45 likes Remington better than Winchester. AND it likes HPs better than FMJ. Granted we are talking about 1/4 inch at 7, and a little under 1" at 25. So, try different brands and weights, see how they shoot. |

I have read on here that another guy had similar issues. Upon closer inspection he found that one of his sights was slightly askew.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like if you are hitting dead center off a rest with the same ammo, then the problem is you - unlikely to be sights or ammo.
Something is happening between your sight picture and trigger break that is moving the muzzle from your POA. Concentrate on this time frame, would be my advice. I am by no means a crack shot, but I follow directions well, and have improved myself tremendously in 3 months. |

I think you will find it is most likely you trigger control. I had a very similar problem when I first started shooting Glocks. Basically I pushed the muzzle to the right with my trigger finger(I'm left handed). For me the problem was 100% operator error. Once I learned proper trigger control the issue was corrected.

problem child
the second XD i got (XD40 tactical) has sights that were horribly out of alignment. took me about 200 rounds to figure it out
anything else though has been my problem but i believe, from what i have read and my modest amount of training and experience, that if you are consistently LoC, you are actually jerking your trigger (even the slightest amount) pull the target in and try different indexing around the distal joint and sloooowww way in firing until you can get better or more comfortable control. just a suggestion. funny thing is, for me, i will cure myself of the LoC problem, not shoot for awhile and then when i go back to the range, there it is again!! so i have to stop, think about what i am doing, breath and get back on track. seems to be less and less frequent but can be discouraging early on.
