XD 40 Failures.
Im no expert But I have been reading alot of the posts here and noticed that the .40S&W XDs seem to have a slide lock issue.
Here are to differant thread links. One is regarding the slide locking back mid magazine, the other discusses Slide releases breaking. http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=33257 http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=33705 The thread discussing the slide locking mid magazine provides a link with photos that show that the slide release catch for the magazine on the 40 is much closer to the rounds. This may cause the slide relaese to engage prematurely, and may also be the cause of the breaks. I do not have a 40 XD but I thought I would group these together to see if anyone thinks there is a connection. Your thoughts? |

From my experience, the only time it happened was actually today, only once, and it was when I was trying to adjust my grip to something a bit higher. I've got somewhere around 1800 rounds through it, and that's the only time it has happened, so I'm still chalking it up to the user hitting the slide release inadvertantly, at least on my weapon.

I would be willing to bet that your thumb is hitting the slide release. That happened on my first trip.

Ok ...why did you post this? Welcome to the board. But still why did you post this, are you having a problem with this? Since you do not own an XD was just wondering or just trying to see if it is a problem? I have only seen a few problems with slides locking and can usually be attributed to limp wristing or such.

I own several XDs, just not a 40.
I posted it because there were to posts with several people experiencing simialar problems with the 40 specificly. I was just trying to draw attention to the fact that there were two threads both regarding slide stop issues on the 40s one with brakages and one with unexpected slide stops. Simply trying to consolidate the info. |
