1st time out XD 40
Well, I picked up my XD 40 and at the same time hit the range. I did not have any ammo so I had to settle with the ranges PMC 165 gr. FMJ At first I kept shooting low right, and relizied it was hand jerk, then I realized I was pulling the trigger which caused me to jerk the gun. So iworked on that and finally got the XD to shot straight but I am still hitting low. I think it is something that I am doing. I will buy some caps and see what I am doing wrong.
As for the firing on the XD, it handled great. I only put 200 rounds through it and had 1 FTF, besides that all went well. I am a novice but being a bow hunter I can see that I do jerk my hand a bit, I will now study my firing of the gun to see what I am doing wrong. Has anybody else seen this as welll, what do you guys think of the PMC FMJ ammo? I will have to try some hydra shock or gold dots next time. Great gun to shot and alot of fun, no regrets here.

You're probably flinching. Just make sure you stare at the front sight. Focus only on that, not the target. You can tell where you are aimed at, but the target should be blurred. Continue to stare at the front sight even after you have fired the shot.. that will train y ou to not try and watch where your shots hit. Other than that, snap caps and practice are the only way to help a flinch.

Most of my shots were either low, low left, or left... about 1800 rounds later since jan 6th when I got it, and Most of my shots are well centered. Just realise that most of the time if your shots are off, it's generally you and not the gun. Ammo can affect it sometimes.. but usually it's just technique.

This may not hold true for the XD, but 165gr in my M&P shoots low. Both my wife and myself had low shots with 165. 180 on the other hand was spot on POA. I have heard others with the M&P observe the same. Again, not sure if this is transferable to all .40 S&W pistols.

I'm wildly unexperienced, but I have noticed great and predictable results with Magtech.
I'm going to shoot some of their 165 grain tomorrow. see how that goes. I have heard from a couple of shooters in the area that it does shoot high, but that's very predictable. |

Follow up with my XD 40
Follow up:
I am now at the 1000 range of rounds through my XD 40. This gun is truly a great gun. I have put PMC 165gr. FMJ and JHP, Speer 165 gr. Gold Dots and Federal 165 gr. Hydra shocks with no problems what so ever. This gun a fun, acurate and easy to shoot. I am trly happy with it. I have tried 180 gr. PMC FMJ but did not like how shots were landing. I am more accurate with the 165 gr. and am now starting to be more acurate and more consistant. I would say that this is all due to practice. As they say practice makes perfect. Every thing takes time and practice, be patient and get to know your XD as it will reward you with acuracy and pleasure. I am now happier with this gun and this will be my primary home deffense weapon (along with my 12 gauge that is). Now I say to you all, have fun and shoot some more
