45 ACP tac "jam" after ~530rds.

1st time out shot 200 rounds of some AAA blue box 230fmj. Took it apart, cleaned it, brought it back to the range yesterday and ran 200rds of fmj 230 WWB no problems. Then 2 boxes of Blazer CCI, worked like a charm. The 3rd box of CCI the gun fires and the slide gets stuck on the new cartridge while loading. So I remove clip, eject cartridge, nothing looks wrong. Replace mag, and release slide so it snaps forward. Same damn thing happens again, slide gets stuck on new cartridge. That was the end of my day. Haven't broken it down to check anything yet, but thought I'd post to look for opinions. I hope it's not the blazer ammo b/c I just ordered 500rds over the interweb.

Just wondering if I should clean it on a more regular basis. Like every 200 rounds? This is my first gun I've personally owned, so please be detailed in your responses. Thanks a lot.

Well I can tell you that it's PROBABLY not the ammo. I have a 40 Service and all I have shot through it has been CCI Blazer. I'm at around 1000 rounds with no problems at all. I also clean my gun everytime I go to the range, about 2 - 300 rounds. Hope its nothing major, Good Luck!

Kinda hard to tell what's happening without knowing exactly HOW the round was jammed. (half-way into the chamber? cocked at an odd angle?) Pics would be nice next time.

Ok, I'll try to get some pics. I didn't have my camera w/ me at the time. It looked like the round was half way in almost. But at a funny angle and that's what stopped it. The round was straight, side to side, but the back was lower than the front. I'll try and repete it and get a pic. Thanks.

lol, mag. :P
But even after I removed the mag and cartridge I replaced it, hit the slide release and it did the same thing. Maybe coincidence.

Cleaned the gun and tapped the mag to make sure the rounds where pushed all the way to the back of the mag. Works like a charm. I think I was getting lazy while loading and wasn't pushing the rounds all the way in the mag. Thanks for all your help.

Check bullet seat depth

I would check the bullet seating depth in case. I am not a BIG fan of Blazer Ammo.

I am not a fan of blazer ammo either... There is a reason it costs less than the oher top ammo... I've had it malfuction in other pistols I have owned. I've even lined the ammo up side by side and the bullet would be seated at different depths on most of the ammo ! So much for being consistant.. Thats what makes good ammo- producing it the same every time- Not some good and some bad.

Is it Blazer Brass? Myself along with other shooters had problem with Blazer Brass ammo in 45ACP. All had failure to feed problems... There's a thread about it on another forum.
