2nd trip to range with Xd-45 Service

Took 200 rounds of Win.WB 230gr FMJ and a few Corbon 185 JHP+Ps Shot some offhand and some from a machine rest. With the rest I could hold some nice tight groups. My offhand well it need improving I wanted to just see how good it can shoot and I am very happy with it. I wanted to test the Corbons because my Kimber 4" 1911 does not like them. Well the XD had no problems with them. I can sure feel the diffrence when shooting them +P Corbons they really shoot hard. Anyway got it home and had it cleaned and ready to carry in 20 min.s It's just one really nice handgun Funny how quickly 200 rounds go.

Funny you ask

My range does not allow shooting closer then 15 yards. But since I was the only one in the BIG bore section and the range police were busy talking to each other. I pulled it back to about 12 yards with just resting my hand on the rest I could hold three inch groups this was not a real good rest machine deal but it did tell me that my off hand shooting was the blame for not keeping tighter groups. The XD-45 Service is not a target handgun but it can shoot pretty darn good IMHO.

Sounds good to me!

I'm still getting aquainted with my Service. I'm used to me 1911A1, so I am shooting 4" at 15, 5" at 25.

Like you I have just switched from my 1911s to the XD and the grip is taking time to re-adjust also the trigger takes getting used to. But I really do like theXD and feel good about carrying it.

I'm with ya. I got it for a carry and a house gun. I'm planning on getting the trigger control down, wich should improve my accuracy. I'll get a report in after the next outing.

To me the XD-45 is as comfortable as my 1911's and since I am an old revolver guy, the trigger is really great from that standpoint. This is one easy gun to shoot. I am impressed with the accuracy. Mine really likes the Federal 230gr. HydraShoks. Here are two 25yard targets. tha left target is freehand and the right target is from a sandbag bench rest.

Here is my new addition with its X2 floodlamp

Thanks for the posting Tex45acp.
Good shooting !!!
I was beginning to wonder about the inherant accuracy of these pistols
with people bragging about 4" groups at 7 yds. .

Good morning gents! I am new in this forum and new to the XD-45. I was a long time 1911 fan and I am still but I always wanted a high cap .45ACP but somewhat small since I have small hands and SA finally fixed that for most of us. The XD-45 is the answer. Anyway I just wanted to share my pictures, I don't have a range near by so I just shoot out in the wilderness, and here is a picture of a 7yds grop (free hand) one at 15yds, 7yds 10rds rapid fire and I wil get some 25yds group later on, but let me tell you that the XD is very accurate almost like my S&W1911 (25yds group 1.98" bench rest of course!) But like most of us I started a little shaky because of the trigger system, but nothing that lots of practice can fix. I am close to mster the trigger system. Anyway here is the pictures, I hope you guys enjoy them.
I am sorry but I don't know how to attach pictures, anybody?[/url]
