Sorry I missed this thread. Some XD's do "slap" your finger hard, hard enough to hurt in fact. Where you place the finger doesn't matter, the trigger safety will sting your finger. It can be fixed, and it is not due to technique, it is mechanical.

I would say the number than do this enough to actually hurt from my experience is less than 1 in 100.

I was wondering when you'd get here!!

I will buy into the trigger safety slapping.

Is this an issue that could initially NOT exist, but develop over time? As I mentioned, the problem did NOT exist for the first 100 rounds or so, but the 2nd time out , I noticed this problem. The only work done on the gun between shoots was a standard cleaning.

Just wondering if this is an issue that can develop or is it usually existant from the get go? Also is this an issue that can be easily fixed or does the gun need to be sent back to Springfield ?

Thanks.

I believe that most professional shooters recomend the pad of your trigger finger.

I think if you use the tip of trigger finger there is a tendency to push the shot to the left.

I think Caswell had a target called the Handgun Target Analysis Guide.

The post about the Caswell target was on another thread somewhere.

Osprey Whisperer,

The trigger slap happened to me when I shot 115 gr. WWB ammo, but it did not happen when I shot mild 124 gr. load-X loads.

I am waiting for my order of 9 different loaded amuntion boxes of 9mm made from various manufacturers and consisting different bullet weights of 115 gr, 124 gr, and 147 gr.

Origionally I purchased them to see what might group the best in my particular XD.

Then I thought I could also monitor trigger feel upon firing.

But then my buddy gave me a sear & spring kit from Springer Precision. I just put it in and I hope to try it out sometime this coming week.

I'll have to get some more WWB 115 gr from the same store and hopefully the same lot to use as a control.

Dan

Ok maybe I should have said the pad instead of the tip, but you should use the part of your finger that is after the last knuckle going out to the end of the finger.
