No, I didn't bother calling SA. I'm not sure it's a defect. I think more likely it's just the way it is. Maybe it's technique, maybe I've got "..city hands... from countin' money all your life..." (name that movie)
I suspect that the snappy (IMO) recoil of the .40 + the trigger safety design contributes to the aggrivation. I've got about 1,000 rounds through a S&W 5906 as a comparison point, and have never had a problem there. Of course a smaller round + smoother trigger + much heavier gun probably rules out "trigger slap" on teh S&W, but it's all I've got. Maybe I'll just have to pick up that XD45 for comparison purposes. The wife will understand, it's for scientific research...... Cheers. |

mikeb: At the Police Academy I teach the recruits to:
1. Take up the slack as rapidly as possible to where the actual trigger press starts 2. Press the trigger to achieve a surprise "break" of the sear 3. Once the gun goes "bang" keep pressing through (also known as "followthrough") All of the above is done gently, without hard pressure and without "mashing." Pressing too hard on followthrough could cause that painful finger syndrome. I also teach a fast reset. ( "Reset fast, Press slow.") I shoot an XD9, no problems with finger pain. |

Once again my two cents worth ...maybe you have a sore finger from loading mags? Or you might have city hands but I can shoot my XD40 all day and never get a scratch. Seems odd to me I hope you figure it out.

it's confirmed
My XD officially has trigger slap too. Last winter I just thought it was the cold making my finger hurt, but today it actually broke skin. My XD never ever ever used to do this. I've never used gloves before, my fingers are not any more or less callused, dry, moist, etc. Today I couldn't even finish 100 rounds due to the wound caused by the trigger. I'm calling SA.

I've fired 1500 rounds in a weekend class and never got a sore finger.
It was the ONLY thing not sore, however. |
