guitar player, or some other stringed instrument. Fingers on my left hand are calloused, but I don't shoot with that hand. However I haven't ever had my finger hurt from shooting.

I cant say I have that problem at all.
I have looked for it and found nothing.
It could be a problem for rounds bigger than 9mm

Iv'e owned or shot just about every pistol on the market and never had anything bad happen to my trigger finger. My XD45 has no trigger slap- I don't know what you are refering to- is it when you are trying to rapid fire or perform a double tap? My finger looks just fine with no blister to write about..... I've ran as much as 1,000 rounds at a time with no bad trigger stories to mention. Just a dent in my wallet.

+1 on no trigger slap here, at least with the XD45. I rip my thumb apart loading magazines, but that was well before getting the XD.

I've experienced the sore trigger finger phenomenon on my XD9 Service, but I've always attributed it to heat being conducted through the metal trigger saftey rather than "trigger slap". After 50-100 rounds without a cool down, the saftey is noticably hot to the touch. Shooting gloves do help, but only ones with fingertips

i cant shoot a whole box of ammo with a glock 17, that thing does a number on my finger. the trigger safety pinches my finger, and the trigger slap feels like my finger is going to split. is this normal, or does the rental glock 17 need a new recoil spring?

I've experienced this once on an extremely cold winter day when no one should be outside shooting. I attribute the pain to the fact that my fingers were slightly frozen probably. Hurt like hell to shoot the thing. I've never had the problem durring summer months, but ya, I think I can understand what you're talking about.
