Virgin Shots

Well, I finally did it. Believe it or not, I've actually had my XD9SC since the beginning of the year but hadn't shot it yet. Not many choices around here and just haven't found the time. Plus, I wanted to go with someone that knew what the were doing so I could pick up a few things, as I have only shot a pistol once before, about 10 years ago....anyways...

I met my brother at the range and shot about 100 rounds of WWB, mostly from 7 yds, with a few from 15yds. As you will see, I'm consistent...consistently bad that is. I'm sure that will improve as I shoot more. As of now, I'm shooting primarily low and right. My shots from my second round (after we went to the rifle range for a little while) seem to be a little better, but I was starting new habits by aiming high and left. I need to take a look at that "correction wheel" thingie and see what I need to do (note: I'm a lefty, so I am assuming I will need to find a left-handed version, or flip it somehow).

Anyways, below are my targets for your amusement

WWB = Winchester White Box - probably the most common target ammo, around $5-$6 a box of 50, FMJ.

As for improving your shooting skills, check out this correction chart:

you appear to be tightening your grip as you pull the trigger.

For clarification, is the chart ambidextrious? In other words, I'm shooting left-handed, would I need to flip it?

Yes, sorry, that's for right handed shooting. Just transpose the discriptions to the other side for lefties.

What's wrong with this shooting, you are shooting a 10" circle, and the majority of the shots are there. You haven't shot in 10 years? What should you expect quarter size groups?

Have fun with it, we ain't givin' away trophies!
