Nearly an identical break!
The phone call was quick. They wanted shipping address, name, and serial number. Said it would ship out "this week", whatever that means. You think you might have pushed up on the slide release while firing, as suggested by jeepguy? |

I did some "investigating' (ok,ok, I looked at a bunch of gun pics in magazines) and noticed that the notch for the slide stop on the XD is square cut at both ends, while most other pistols have the notch tapered or beveled at the front. Since I'm still waiting to pick up my XD 9, if you pull the slide all the way back while pushing up on the slide stop lever, does the front portion contact the front of the cut out in the slide?

Damm,
I better call in the morning. I sent SA a email on Monday and it's Wes. afternoon with no response. I;ll call them first thing in the morning and hopefully there phone service is better than there email service. No pun intended, I love my XD and after 5,000 or so rounds it has given nothing but trouble free operation. But I bieleve I made the mistake of what Jeepguy said, I proably touched the slide lock while firing the weapon and broke the piece because it happened while I still had rounds left in the mag. if need be I;ll cough up the dough for the part to get it out to me. Just an update, I just left Megan at SA a message on her phone so hopefully they will call me back in the morning. I tried to call Tracy but she is on vacation. |

E-mails do not work with them very well, read my post "I promised springfield arms" It has been since that date and I stil have not received a reply. But I too love my xd 40 but their attitude kinda sucks IMO

Last night I tested my grip to see if I may have bumped the slide lock while shooting.
No way. Not even close. Like I said, I've got small hands. With a shooting grip, my firing hand thumb won't even reach the lock, and my normal grip keeps the thumbs well below the slide lock. |

Well I had a talk with SA and they got my part shipped out today via Overnight so I can have it ready to go this weekend. I paid extra for the overnight. So all is well.

no. the slide lock does not make contact with the front of the cut. NOW, I am a brand new owner, and mine is a .40, but I am led to believe it's the same gun. I'm also kind of a moron, and may be missing some little thing, but i don't see it making any frontal contact, only on the back. does that help? |
