xd45acp range report (sort of)

i went and shot with my two cousins today
we usually shoot long range rifles and today was no different
what was different was that i took my service model with me
we have a 10 inch steel plate hung on a shaft so it will swing when hit at a measured distance of 50 yards
i set the floorplate of the mag on top of one of the sandbags that we shoot off of and proceeded to ring that steel plate 10 out of 12 shots after finding out the first two shots went high!!
i was holding a level sight picture center of the steel and the first two shots went over it
i had to hold level on the bottom of the target
when i walked down to it to check it out it was around a three to four inch group at 50 yards for 10 shots all around center
not to shabby
btw i was using winchester white box 230 ball
the more i shoot this thing the more i like it

I have my XD Sub in for service at SA for shooting exactly as you say. I had to aim at the bottom of the target at 25 yards to hit center. I told them I aim 5-1/4 " low at 25 yards. They say they have different height fixed sights. I am getting Heine Straight 8 sights to not have to worry about elevation as much. But if XD's shot level I would not be needing to get sights.

In the manual...

In the XD manual, it says that the guns were designed to shoot with a "six o'clock," hold. Many pistols shoot using a low hold as you mention.
