My xd-9 absolutely refuses to shoot WWB. I had 5 FTEs in one mag! I was about to send it off for repair when I decided to switch ammo. It shot CCI blazer brass extremely well. Very accurate and no Problems. I am just not going to shoot WWB anymore.

...just another thought. My XD-40 has functioned flawlessly. However there have been a few times where I experienced FTE. After evaluating things I realized that it was the way I was gripping my gun... not at all the gun's problem. I realized that my thumb was actually accidentally bumping the slide release lever and locking my action open. Again, I'm not saying this is your case, but just thought I'd mention it for whatever it's worth. Needless to say, since then i've changed my grip

is it at all possible you were tired the days it FTE'd and you were just limp wristing a little?

doesn't explain the stuck casing.

*just thinking out loud*

I hope this is all due to me limpwristing and had an out of spec reload. I guess I will just keep shooting and see what happens

I know you said you clean it well, but is there a chance you are not cleaning the chamber well enough(I've made this mistake)? Often a chamber will look clean, but be totally fowled. Unless you have a bad extractor, extraction problems after the break in period are usually maintenance related. I would take some good cleaner and a bronze brush, and just scrub the heck out of it. Then run some patches through. If the patches are dirty that might be your problem.

Good luck

I don't beleive in limp wristing. I had FTE problems and everyone said, "It can't be the guns fault! It has to be you!" I am here to tell you that it was the guns fault. WWB has countless FTEs. ANY other ammo I tried has no FTEs. I tried to limp wrist the darn thing and get an FTE, but no success. I shot the gun with my left (weak) hand with out a locked elbow and a limp wrist. My arm looked like a loose fire hose bouncing all over the place. Those of you who do not have problems. Go get several types of ammo and try to limp wrist you gun and see what happens.

I do not believe in "Limp Wristing" as well. All pistols should extract regardless of grip pressure.

Do this, Take a steel bore brush and clean the camber really good. Only use the steel brush for the chamber. I have taken a steel bore brush and attached it to a drill and run it in the chamber for about 3 seconds.
Also clean the extractor stop. This is the "lump" on the extractor that touches the slide. This area IMHO is too large and should have a relief cut into it to allow dirt to be pushed out by the extractor itself.

Put another 150 rounds downrange today as fast as I could pull the trigger with nary a hiccup. Whatever issues I was having seem to be gone. So I'm a happy guy. Thanks to all for the input.

XD Malfunction....

Cat Jugler, I'm a Gunsmith, a Glock Advanced Armorer, (yes, I know those are cuss words on this site, just establishing my bonefides), and a Mechanical Engineer by trade. but I haven't been to any Springfield classes yet. It sounds to me like either the reload thing the guys have been talking about, or something called 'tolerance stacking'. As you probably know, every moving part has a 'tolerance' or it couldn't move. Some weapons come out on the loose side of the statisics with the tolerances stacked to make it loose (-.005 on the bbl, -.005 on the slide, -.005 on the chamber, etc....) some come out on the other side of the coin, +.005 on all and are tight. Possibly, you received a 'tight' weapon and after shooting it, it loosened up slightly (doesn't take much..) and now has no problems. I would send it back to Springfield or take it to a qualified Gunsmith to check it out. You wouldn't want a malfunction to cost you your life. The weapon MUST work when you need it. -- Glimmer31
