XD45 Service......1st trip to the range
So I bought a XD45 Service last week. I was finally able to get to the range today. I seemed to shoot a little left, turned out to be me and not the XD. If I really concentrated on basic shooting fundamentals, I was shooting dead-on! The XD does seem to like the 6 o-clock positioning, a little hard to get used to as my SA Loaded 45 is POA.
I shot 350 rounds of WWB 230gr FMJ and HP, 3", five shot pattens...... all morning long, with no issues what-so-ever. Seven yards I was shooting about 1.5" groups. Very nice trigger, for a non-1911 45. I would say about a 5-6 pound break, it does have a little over-travel, but I can live with that. Very nice managable recoil, nearly the same as my old Glock 19 using 124gr +P. Overall I would rate the Springfield XD45 a 9.5. Worlds better in fit, finish, feel, and overall performance when compared to a Glock 21. Here's a pic:

You HAVE to get you one of these!
I dropped my Glock quicker than my ex-wife. If you like you 40, you will love the 45. Recoil is smoother, maybe not less just a different feel. The 40 feels like a sharp "pop", where as the 45 feels like a strong push. I havn't had this much fun with a gun since I bought my M1 Garand! |

Nice range report
I also notice when I was at range with my new XD-45 Service that I also was shooting to the left. This is nothing new with me I have done it with my 1911s and Glock23 so I know it's the way I am holding them. My range win't allow the targts closer then 15 feet and I shoot off hand. Right now I am just getting used to the XD and not worring about really tight groups.
Did the XML light come with the XD-45? How do you like the way it shines is it a tight or broad beam? |

I have been using the pie chart target and when following what it states by how I am shooting, and I correct that I am mowing the center.
The XML has about a 18" pencil beam on the wall at ten feet. I seems as if you can open the beam up a bit, like a mag-light. However it seems to become ringy, is that a word? For what I paid and what I plan to use it for, it is awesome! |

I shot mine today as well and found myself hitting about 6 inches to the left of the red from 25 yards out. What do you guys suggest? Do I keep working with it or have a gunsmith make an adjustment? I shot aiming 6 inches to the right and hit dead on everytime.. Any thoughts??

Sounds like your sights are indeed off. Mine are dead on. Do a search, you may be able to adjust them yourself.
