As for being hard to load, yep. They're a bitch when new. Best thing for that is to load 'em up to max and let 'em sit for a couple days. That seems to help quite a bit. I did that for mine, but they're still pretty darn difficult. When at the range, I only put in 10 rounds (of .40, so 12 is the limit) and that's fine. Plus, 5 mags at 10 rounds each = 1 tray of ammo. Perfect!

The mags that came with my xd40 were hard to load. I literally was breaking a sweat trying to load by about round 7. Thumb couldn't push hard enough to get them in anymore. I just recently purchased a 4th mag last week, and it loaded fairly easy. Leave your mags loaded for a few days, unload them, and load them again. That will at least make them tolerable to load. they will load very easy once you have done this and also loaded and unloaded them from normal shooting after a while. Just takes time.

Don't be so stubborn guys, pick yourselves up the speed loader from either OS or ajames and save your thumbs for "shootin" not loading.

My other question thoe is about the slide not staying locked back after last casing is ejected is this a problem anyone else has ran into? My other hand guns i have never ran accross this problem.

Yep - I got cramps in the base of my thumb first time out with the .45 (I left the included speedloader at home ). I could only manage 10 rounds and with a total shoot of 300 rounds that day, I paid the price later that night. My 2nd trip yesterday was way better...I remembered to take the speedloader.

You're still a manly man if you use the speedloader.

interesting. since your mag springs are so strong, i cant imagine your follower not engadging the slide stop. perhaps you should dismantle and clean yor mags. i had the same problem with my sigpro. the mag spring was a bit weak and wouldnt activate the slide stop lever with enough force to lock the slide open. my solution?.... i called sig and had them send me a spring for a 10 round mag and put it in my 15 round mag(greater compression due to longer spring).
