I am yet another person that could only get 10 or 11 rounds in my new mags... but after 1 trip of 200 rounds at the range I was capable of loading full mags. I'm still debating on getting a speed loader though.
As for the slide not locking back... not to trying to demean you weapons knowledge but could your hand placement be a factor. I know when I was adjusting my hands I did the same thing to find that my thumb was in the general area of the slide release. Just a thought.

Slide not locking back is usually the shooter putting his thumb or thumbs next to the relaese lever without knowing it..... there are some good posts here if i remember right about this problem and some on the web also.

It's easy to hit the slide release on the XD is you don't mind your thumb. It will take some practice; I am sure that is the culprit to your troubles.

as to your question about slide not locking back I am almost positive you are doing one of two things.
1. riding the slide with your thumbs which in some cases could slow the slide down enough that it doesn't go back far enough to lock to the rear on an empty mag. 2. and most likely it is your right thumb riding the slide lock down. I do this also and it is something that I have to remember when I shoot till empty. put an empty mag in and pull the slide to the rear if it locks then the magazine should be working properly. Watch those thumbs and you shouldn't have this problem anymore.

Well thanks for all the tips ive shot about 2000 rounds threw this thing now, the mags are now easy 2 load i have canceled my speed loader and havent had any problems with slide. i realy love this gun its so smooth compared 2 all other 9's i shot.
Today i went 2 range its an outdoor range and the only rules are no glass no tracers and no 50 cal. so me and a couple friends went with some bowling pins, old radios, paint cans and a bunch of other cool stuff to shoot and blew the **** out of every thing had so much fun i could have stayed there all day, shot a bunch of 9 rounds and 5.56 rounds but the most fun was shooting my friends old ass m1 that gun is so sweet.well if anyone is from north east ohio i would say go to this range and have fun. They have several ranges pistol, rifle and some real long ranges for scope guys but if you cant stand on about 15 years worth of shells and shoot they also have some benches 2 shoot from well all and all have fun. |
