XD40 Service Disappointment

I own a Kimber, Glock, Ruger, S&W, and some other not so important pistols, yet I can't fall in love with my XD40 S Stainless. I bought three conversion barrels from Firedragon. The 9mm, .357sig, and .357sig 5'' ported barrel. All these barrels fire great from the XD 40...AND THAT ALONE IS AMAZING!

But out of the box accuracy is not as desired. I consider myself an above average shooter. I depend on my marksmanship for survival in Iraq and Afghan..., heard about the XD when I was overseas and had to have it.

I have fired the XD45ACP 4" and think it should be the next service pistol for the armed forces. THis gun rocks. Less recoil than my xd40 or Kimber .45.

I just can't get much accuracy from the XD 40 beyond 7yds. I am consistently shooting high and left. I am thinking it has to be the sights.

Quality: Well my G19 is older, shot 100x more than my XD and shows no wear despite being on my side for 18 months in the desert. My Kimber shows holster wear, the XD has some finish issues being 2months old and about 300rounds. Though I have never had a FTF in the XD, I have had them in the g19 (cheap reloads) and one in the Kimber with Federal Gold Match.

My point: Well, I am thinking about resighting the XD 40 with TFO sights, if this doesn't fix the issues, anyone want to buy an XD40S Stainless with three conversion barrels?

p.s. Weapon I carried for 18months as primary defense: Kimber CII.45ACP, G19 as my backup. The 1911 is King!

Try the new sights if you wish, there has been a few people that claim their factory sights were off a little. Have it sighted in (bench rest). I'm sure you won't have to (or want to) sell it. If it doesn't do the job, I'm sure someone here won't hesitate to jump on it!

Lots of luck! P.S.- Thanks for your service over seas!

Get rid of that rusting inaccurate xd 40 service and sell it to me oldboyroy It's obvious that you do not want to spend the time with xd if it is that bad and you have so many other functional and accurate firearms. I'll give it a good home.

Better this time around...

I got the sites adjusted and it shoots as accurate as my Kimber at 7yds.

There ya go! From what I've heard most XDs come with the sights adjusted properly, mine's dead nuts on. Thing is, if you’re spoiled from shooting Kimber 1911s (like me) it’s hard not to have high expectations for all your handguns. I’ll tell ya this, I had a Glock Model 22 for 3 years and that damn thing never shot as well (accurate) as my XD…though it never failed either…

FWIW – I carry my Kimber Stainless Pro Carry

I'll be keeping the XD 40. Think it is going to be my primary weapon to keep in my vehicle. I shot another 200rds this weekend and the trigger actually feels a lot smoother than before. I am getting around 2-3inch groupinds at 15yds. At 7 it is really impressive. I still like my Kimber as my home defense and it is too big to haul around.

I wish they would make a XD45ACP Sub-compact. That will be something to see in the future.

p.s. I am now flying as an instructor pilot in the Air Force in TX, too much combat time overseas can be a good thing to have...especially when you want to stay home for your next assignment.

How was the accuracy?

How was the accuracy of the XD-45? My range won't allow shooting closer then 15 yards.
