Tried a new (for me) range yesterday
Me and the misses went to Rangemasters in Springville yesterday. It was a nice facility but I have to admit to being slightly disappointed. They list Kimber as a manufacture they carry but had zero in store. We had hoped they would have one we could rent as my wife is looking in the direction of a Kimber full size for her first gun. Anyway, we wound up renting their Rock Island .45 GI issue type pistol with fixed plain steel sights to try out. It made aiming a bit tricky to say the least. We also put about 100 rounds through our XDm40.
This is my first mag if forty. Obviously my control still needs work but I like that I had more repeatability in my shots. Here's my wife's first go with the .45 Here's mine. I still love my XDm but i gotta admit that i could really grow to love the 1911 if I had the right model (the GI style just doesn't wok well for me). If the pics don't work the first time, I will edit the post until I remember how to post them right. ...and yes, we BOTH had a lot of fun. Edit: I forgot to mention, the range for the XDm40 shots was at 7yds. Since it was a new gun to the wife and I, the range on the .45 was 3yds. Last edited by hornet7191; 10-29-2009 at 12:47 AM. |

Thanks
We are hoping to try a different range in a few weeks that has some better 1911's to rent. I am worried that my wife mght put me to shame though if she is shooting a better 1911. At least I can out shoot her on the XDm.
