$150 worth of ammo... Sore hand!
I took all my babies to the range today to blow the dust out of them for a bit. I put 300 rounds through my XD-9 SC, 250 rounds through my XD-40 and 100 rounds through my .44 MAG revolver. My hand is aching! But I love it!
Today was the first time I've shot the XD-40 (got it yesterday), and I noticed that my groups were tight and centered, but consistently about 3-4" low. I thought it might be my right-handed shooting with a dominant left-eye throwing my aim off, but my buddy ran a few mags through it and experienced the exact same thing. I've seen a few posts here regarding issues with the rear sight, and I think I may be experiencing the same thing. I was shooting pretty damned close to right-on with the XD-9, so that would seem to reinforce my theory. I'll have to put another few hundred rounds through it to see for sure, but I was planning on getting TFOs for the 40 anyway, so who knows! |

I moved from the Glock 23 .40 because I couldn't keep from hitting low. I found the snap from the 40 ammo was more difficult to manage than shooting .45 or 9mm. With 40 ammo being more expensive than 9, I didn't want to pay to learn to shoot better with it. I traded for the XD-9 subcompact that puts all the bullets where I aim.

I thought it was probably just me, but the same thing happened to my buddy with the same gun. But... We had both just run a few hundred rounds through our 9mm's too, so...
I'm going to take it to the range again this week and put another box or two through it before I swap in the DGR/spring kit I got today. That should give me a good before and after comparison. I'm determined to shoot this gun well. Ammo costs be damned! Oh... This time I'll leave the XD-9 SC at home too |
