XD .45 recoil

Looking into purchasing the XD .45 in ACP for duty use. What is the recoil like compared to other .45 like the Glock 21. Also which is better, the 4 or 5 inch barrel?? Thanks

low recoil. butter.........

Lewy I think the XD-45 is a pleasure to shoot. The recoil is less than my XD-40SC and less than two other .45's I own, and almost as good as the third, an MPA .45 defender which is a heavyweight! I don't know about the Glock as I have no experience with it. My XD-45 is the 4-inch barrel, but it stands to reason that the 5-inch would probably be even less recoil. If you want a smooth shooting, accurate, .45, IMO go with the XD. Go for it! You won't be sorry! I am a satisfied customer with two XD's!

Lewy, I have not shot the acp service, but I've got the 45 acp tac and it is a joy to shoot - almost as pleasant as the much heavier 220 ST. I appreciate the longer barrel on the tac models.

I've never shot a glock, but the Tactical .45ACP has less recoil than my Service .40. Even the .45 Ranger +P's had less recoil by my hands measurement.

The recoil of my XD-45 4"

It's about the same as my 4" Kimber 1911 and a lot less then my Glock23 that is a real hand killer. The XD is really a nice handgun to shoot.

First post here;

Its been a while since I shot my brothers 92FS, but I thought the same thing! It might actually have less recoil than it did, but I would need to shoot them back to back. I put 50 rds through it in less than 15min, this is an awesome pistol.

the recoil of my XD 45ACP is the same as my Glock 19 9mm. It is a little more than my Kimber 45, but that is mostly due to the weight and balance. I much rather shoot a 45ACP all day than the snappy kicking of a 40SW.

just my 2cents.
