Another XD-45ACP range report
Hi all just joined your club because today I picked up the now infamous XD-45. I took the pistol straight to the range, right out of the box, not even a wipe down. I had 8 different brands of ammo, and I shot 400 rounds without a hiccup. I purchased this gun for self defense so all my shooting was done at 30 ft, except for one magazine I shot at 50 ft, and 3 magazines shot at 15 ft rapid fire and two shot burst. I shot standing up in a modified weaver stance with both eyes open. I am very pleased with its accuracy. Very easy to control and keep on target, especially in a rapid fire situation. In the past 2 years I have gone through 3 carry pistol. First I carried a Glock 33, 10 rounds of 357SIG, I shot it well. Then I fell in love with a SIG229 in 40 S&W, I shot it better than the Glock. Now I carry the best, in my hands, the XD-45. What can I say; I am very impressed with this gun.
I’ve chronoed all the 45ACP I have on hand, more ammo is coming my way so I’ll post those results soon. Here's the link. http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=31085 I should have taken a picture of the pistol after all the shooting was done; the muzzle area looked like it had just reentered the Earth’s atmosphere, covered in blast soot.

I'm about to go order an xd .45 ACP. I'm a little jittery about dropping $500 (this'll be my first gun!), but I've done lots of research, and it seems like the XD is the way to go for me. Any advice for a newbie?

Well Brettski,
I've had the XD-45 only a short time now, but have put quite a few rounds though it, with not one issue. I’ve owned and still own quite a variety of 45’s, all serving different purposes. My XD-45 Service is my best choice for a defense, carry piece. It’s reliable, accurate, feels perfect in my hand, has a great trigger, and has a high capacity magazine. Its 4” barrel length is short enough to allow conceal carry, but not to short as to greatly diminish the velocity and effectiveness of the 45ACP round, especially if you use Double Tap ammo, IMO. If that is what you are looking for than buy all means go for it. I have zero regrets. Don’t assume that this is strictly a defense pistol because I purchased it for that reason, no, I think it’s a great first pistol for what ever reason you what one. You’ll love it. Tim
