XD45 ACP Range Report
I picked up the XD45 ACP this past Friday and had an opportunity to take it to the range that evening. This is my 4th XD (even though I swore not to buy another XD until the parts issue is resolved) and I followed the same process I did with my other 3. I don't clean it before shooting - I take it straight out of the box, load the magazines, and fire away. I run 200-300 rounds of UMC 185 gr. FMJ before I even start looking at defensive rounds. My thinking is that the pistol is given a chance to get broken in with FMJ rounds. I've had good luck with Winchester Super-X Silvertip HP rounds in my other XDs so that is what I start shooting with. If there are no failures, that is what I stick with.
Ran through this process with the XD45 and all went as usual. No failures, very accurate out to 50 ft., very comfortable, excellent overall experience, which is exactly what I have come to expect from the XD family. Although I had the typical flyer, my groupings were in the 1-2" range out to 35-40 ft. I'll have another 1000 rounds through it by the end of February, so I'll try and provide an update then. |

Good job. I had the same technique with my 9mm sub. (right out of the box and fmj).
