Yep, I'm looking forward to trying mine out.... Does yours stand up to wind well? All I id was follow the instructions at Educational Zone #24 - Homemade Target Stand - Page 1. Is that where you got your plans from?

Great idea and great pics

Not trying to cut in on your idea but just offering a cheap suggestion. I made my target stands using those once famous halogen lamp stands that everyone once had and added a pvc frame for the targets. Just unscrew the lamp pole ( it's in sections of about 20 inches ) and pull out the wiring. The base weighs around 10 pounds and holds up to the wind well. Save your sections to add more height if needed. I used a 3/4" pvc pipe for the frame with a "T" joint at the bottom so the pvc pipe coming from the bottom of the "T" can slip down into the lamp pole sections. That's the great thing about pvc... it's cheap and you can make it into whatever shape you need. I saved three of those old lamps for some reason and now I'm glad I did.

I made four of these PVC stands using the same plans, I used PVC dope to fasten all of the pieces except the verticle pieces to allow them to be swapped out if shot. I didn't use quick crete in my and have had zero issue from wind but the outdoor range I shoot is tree lined and blocks much of the wind. I have set the stands up on a windy day at my house and they did just fine.

Very nice, i'm working on building a range up at my Girlfriends Cabin and have been pondering different ideas for Target stands that can be left up there. This one sounds like a winner.

I was thinking that if I needed more I could build them and substitute a "T" for one of the corner 90's which would enable me to join multiple target holders into one target array... just dry fit a loose piece of PVC to tie them together... Sometimes I think too much.... and I need to get a life....

I was at the range some time back and a guy had a similar setup. I've been meaning to do one myself. Think I'll have to get to work on it!

Thanks for the pics and lighting the fire!

That would be cool.... One suggestion... If you put the Quickcrete in the stands make sure you block the "T" or it will run out... It also is taking a few days for it to set up in mine 'cause of the humidity here right now... If I was doing it again I'd build it down in my basement...

I like the quickcrete idea. If you are looking for some stands that are easy to transport and will not fall over when the wind blows, give these a try:http://pistolgear.com/Easy%20Target%20Stands2.pdf
