Decal Grips vs. Hogue Handalls

Has anyone here tried both? What did you find you preferred? Does needing to trim the Handall to accomodate for the grip safety take away from it at all?

I have decal grips and I love them, personally I found that Hogue grips tended to slip a little, changing my grip angle. I have rubber decal grips and they suit me just fine, no slip and a secure grip. I got them through pistolgear.com

I have the Decal Grips from Pistol gear as well. Never had anything Hogue on my pistol.

I like the decal grip excpet for one thing . . . I had to remove the grip decal on the inner part of the grip (I am right handed so the inner grip to me is the one on the left side of the gun).

It just would rub my skin raw when I carry it IWB concealed, even through a t-shirt. Other than that they are nice.

The decal grips seem nice. I wonder how long they last without peeling?

Glad to hear that the Decal Grips are nice. For 7 bucks I wasn't so sure but ordered some in preparation for getting my XD45 this coming Tuesday. I've a Hogue wraparound on my M9 and I really like it, but unlike the Handall, it obviously screws in and has a better way of fastening.

Like .22Three asked, does anyone have any estimates on how long the Decal Grips stay on for in general? Being as low priced as they are, it won't be hard to keep one or two packs on hand to replace when/if ever needed.

I have the rubber texture. Tally, did you get the sand texture and that was what led to such abrasion?

I use the hogue handall. I used a little hairspray underneath it, has not moved at all.

I use both the rubber decal grip with a Pachmayer slip on grip with finger grooves on my XD45C and for my hand it feels great and have had no negative experiences when shooting. On my XD40SC I only have the Pachmayer slip on but will soon have the rubber decal grip to compliment it since it worked out so well on my 45.

I have camo grips made from skateboard tape, and it's a year and none of it has lifted up, and I spray Gunscrubber all over when I clean it.

That is nice. And if they aren't lifting after being sprayed down that is an added bonus.

Yes, I got the sand grit texture. It is rough as hell. Its exactly what is on ladder steps for foot grip except thinner material.
