Yup, Gun Scrubber won. I trashed my Hiviz sight. After cleaning the pistol last time, the sight lost like 1/2 of it's brightness. The clear exterior of the Hiviz is all hazy. It's junk...
But, that gave me an excuse to go snag a set of TFOs. So, I'm seriously considering soap and water next time. What's recommended for getting a few hundred rounds of GSR off of a muzzle that won't degrade a TFO tube? WD-40 and a toothbrush maybe???

I switched to Powder Blast by Break Free. And it smells nice too.
I also use Butche's Bore Shine for the barrel. Here is something else worth looking into. M-Pro7 Gun cleaner. 32 Oz bottle. Made by Pantheon Chemical, they also make Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner. . .

When working around the sights just go with a patch and cleaner, just take the extra couple of seconds to go neat around them. You can still spray with Gunscrubber, etc., just cover the sights with a couple of patches as you hold it in your hand and spray carefully.

I'm even thinking like 409 and a toothbrush, or something. It's just GSR from the muzzle blast up there. It shouldn't be too hard to get off.
Or, like you are saying, something like Hoppe's #9 and a cloth. I'm done with Gun Scrubber on my slide.

Guys,
You should NEVER have a need to clean your slide with a solvent. Any powder around the muzzle will wipe off with a little oil. Solvent on the slide only strips any protection that remains and may damage sight made of plastic, like the HIVIZ, Dawson, TRUGLO, etc. sights. OS
