Aftermarket Mag Springs...

I bought some of the 20% stronger mag springs from AGP about 2 weeks ago, I haven't made it to the range yet, (planning on tommorrow) anyway, those of you who have been using them how do you like them? Did this cure some/all of the light strike problems that i've read about? I usually shoot reloads and have had some light strike problems, I'm not sure all were caused by high primers. So, I'm hoping these mag springs are the cure.(Wow! they are stiff!) I'd like to hear any feedback from current users, good, bad or ugly let me know.

I bought 3 for my xd-45 but I have the california 10 round mags. Where do I cut the 13 round springs at for the 10 round mags?

Mag springs won't affect primer strikes, one has nothing to do with the other.

I've compared my 10 round compact mag spring to a full capacity 13 round mag spring. It looks like it's only missing one coil. I'm not 100% sure that the same goes for the Cali Mags.

I'd just put them side by side, and cut the new springs a coil or two longer than the ones you are now using, and then see if you can load all 10 rounds. If number 10 won't go in, then you need to cut more.

And I agree with Kaboom. No was a mag spring has anything to do with light primer strikes. You might want to call Springer and see about a stronger striker spring.

Also, if you are using an overtravel stop, you might need to adjust it. You might have it close enough that the striker safety is dragging a hint on the striker as it travels.

Otherwise, take the slide apart, and really clean out the striker channel well. You might have some gunk in there...

That's what I thought too, there was a thread around here disscussing the same thing, and for some reason the Op of that post noticed that his lightstrike problems went away after installing these springs, why I don't know...I'm going to the range in a couple of hours, I'll report back, as I usually get some light strikes..

I don't know what happened to this thread, but I did want to report back with my limited findings with the heavier mag springs. 150 rnds were shot, I had NO Failures to Fire...none. The last few outings I've noticed I'd start getting failures to fire with my reloads.I thought possibly high primers, But every time out?? so I tried the heavier springs after reading another thread on this subject on this board.Well the AGP springs seem to work, I don't understand the relationship between light strikes and the mag spring, but the heavier springs seem to work. I even tried to induce a FTF by pulling the trigger as fast as I could, did'nt work, the XD just ran the mag empty. The only thing I can figure is that the stronger mag springs force the cartdridges up the mag into the feed lips at the angle they are supposed to be fed at, The stock mag springs are pretty weak, to start with and I think this part of the problem..Anyway, if you're having FTF's with your reloads for some reason, Give one of these a try, At $7.00 you can't lose.
