XDm Holster Questions

Does anyone know if the new XDm will fit in holsters that were designed for the original XD? I really want an XDm, but don't want to have to get all new holsters.

My holsters in question are...

1. Blackhawk Serpa

2. Crossbreed Supertuck

3. UNK molded leather

Any help would be great. I just can't afford to get the XDm AND have to get new holsters too. In fact I may be selling my Tactical to be able to afford the XDm (but this is the wrong forum for that ~ keep an eye on the WTS area in the next couple of days, if interested).

This is what I want for my XD(m) in the truck. Pictured is my current setup, but I have to wait for Fobus to make one for the XD(m)

Only holster is what comes in the box

I'm also interested in a holster for my first XD, the XD-M.

In reading a review in another thread the reviewer mentioned phoning Springfield Armory custom shop and was told the pistol and magazines are dimensionally bigger/different than any of the other current XD models.

I've got Blade-Tech not too far away and called them the other day to see if they have a holster made for the XD-M. They do not and invited me to bring mine down to have it fit.

They've offered before to have my pistol fit to their holster. I hopefully plan to visit their shop in the next few days and I'll report my findings.

I bought a blackhawk serpa holster that was listed for the XD. My XD-M is a little loose in it, it rocks back and forth slightly. However it locks it in place very well even with the play. It is not the snug fit like I have with my BlackHawk serpa for my HK. I found it to be acceptable and better than the paddle holster that comes with the XD-M because of the retention. If the looseness bothers me then I make slip something into the holster to tighten it up a bit.

I contacted blackhawk directly and asked them the question. This is their reply:

We want to thank you for your interest BLACKHAWK! The Serpa holster’s that will work with the Springfield XD; handles the 4”full size service and 5” tactical models. If you have any questions or concerns; please feel free to contact me.

I also contacted comp tac concerning this since I love my mtac minotaur. This is their reply: "We are working on the XDm mold now and hope to have it in production in a few weeks. Unfortunately the standard XD molds will not work with your pistol. I hope this helps, J.B."

Unfortunately because the gun is so new, the holster manufacterers didnt have the chance to creat holsters for them ahead of time. I am finding the same problems in obtaining night sights for my XD-M. Guess we just need to wait it out a bit.

Hope this helps.

S.M.

XDm Holsters

I, too have been trying to find a holster that fits the new XDm .40...No luck except for the one in the box. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer a leather holster. I have Milt Sparks rigs for both of my Kimber .45's...Versa Max II's..and love them. They're IWB's and by far the most comfortable holsters I've ever worn. Even carrying the full-sized 1911, I can get by with wearing an over sized T-shirt untucked and have never been "made". Maybe if enough of us contact them, they'll get on the ball and make one to fit. The only problem is the 26 week wait, but well worth it.
