im new to the xd family, infact i pick up my xd.40 service with 4"bbl on the 8th. im trying to find a tactical holster that will allow me to leave my laser/light combo installed. picked up a streamlight tlr2 to go with it. i would preffer something other than nylon or leather. believe what im looking for is "kydex" any help on a supplier would be greatly appreciated. ive looked all over and cant seem to find one.

Safariland makes one for the XD's both the 4 and 5 inch barrels under the 6005 series model and it's a thigh rig. I have one for each of my xd45's (4 and 5 in) that are fitted with TLR-1's. Safariland released the 5 inch model holster recently and it fits both the 4 and 5 inch barrel XD's so you can alternate weapons without buying two holsters. (unfortunately I bought the 4 inch holster first) With the light attached the measurement is the same from the front of the light to the rear of the slide on the 4 and 5 inch XD's. I bought Safariland's universal belt loop attachment with a 1.5 inch drop ($1

which allows you to unscrew the holster from the thigh rig (three screws) and attach it to the belt loop to make a regular duty holster with the same three screws. Three holsters in one... The thigh rig is about $145.00. It's listed on Safariland's website with a "willfit" chart. If you have a lanyard on your weapon I would suggest doing without the hood protector, mine always got snagged when reholstering. The holster works well and is very durable, I haven't broken it yet and I'm very hard on my gear.
