Looking at possible mods
I just recently got my 4" .45 XD and I've been looking to add a couple of things to it.
First, what are general opinions of fiber optic sights? I personally like the way they look on the gun and also their functionality, but it's a bit pricier to get those than just new sights. Second, I need to do something about the grip. I really like the feel of the Agrip adhesive grips, but I'm not a huge fan of the velour look, and I really want to keep it all in black, so the camo Agrip is right out. Any suggestions? Third, I've seen where people have gotten the front of the trigger guard rounded. How expensive and worthwhile is that to improve the overall look and feel? These are just the things I'm looking at right now. Anyone have any other suggestions for possible mods that might be good too?

How many rounds have you put through it? Would you feel that it is worth it to buy your favorite sports car then start making cosmetic changes on it before you've broke it in? If the answer is "yes", then another question is; did you buy this gun for show or for business? You have to know what your ultimately goal is.
BTW, welcome to the forum.

If the gun is a carry piece or a home defense weapon I suggest the Trijicon night sights in your flavor of color. I chose green front yellow rear.
Stay away from the TruGlo TFO fiber optic sights. There has been a rash of the light pipe strand falling out lately. That cant happen with Trijicons as they are not fiber optic and are sealed inside the metal sight itself. Pistol Gear (a forum sponsor) sells a product called Decal Grip cut just for the XD45acp. Fit is perfect and is black. You can choose rubber or "sand grit" finish. Other than that, send it off to Springer Precision for a trigger job if you want. There are several places that do Duracoat, or polish jobs on the metal trim pieces such as takedown lever and slide release lever. I suggest getting a feed ramp polish as well. It will prevent most feeding problem when using wide mouth hollow points. There arent many internal pieces on the aftermarket for the 4" model because it has a particular design that isnt interchangeable with the other frames. The guide rod/recoil assembly is a one piece unit and no one has yet come up with a special custom replacement. However, the gun is perfect as it is.
