First thread - Better holster?
Hi all! I just discovered this website last week, shortly after I purchased my XD .45 Compact 4". I have been doing a lot of reading about holsters (IWB for CC) and I have read about a lot of guys talking about concealing a full size XD with a T-Shirt and Shorts. My question is how? I currently have a Don Hume holster (I know I know) Not the best out there, but to hold me over until my dealer gets his most recent order of holsters. Anyway I am 6’1” 200 Lbs, in pretty good shape; I wear a size L t-shirt and 32 or 33 Waist. I find it very hard to conceal my XD with a Don Hume in the 4 O’Clock position without some sort of over shirt on, like a button up or sweatshirt. How do you guys do it, what holsters do you use? What position do you carry in? Thanks ahead for the replys!

First off, welcome.
I am 6' at about 175 and my wife says she can't even tell when I've got my pistol on. With a large shirt, it can show when I bend over or reach, but I've found that an XL will do a better job and actually doesn't look trashy. I wear mine at about 3 'o clock to 3:30 in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. At 4 'o clock it might be kind of hard for me to conceal a full size XD, but is not a problem at 3 'o clock. The biggest thing is to try different adjustments with your holster to find the best fit for you. Experiment a lot until you find exactly what works.

I'll second the Supertuck. It is comfortable, secure, and easy to conceal.

It may be the fact that I just recently started carrying and quite a few people tell me it is psychological because I know that I am carrying, so I think others can see it too. From what all I've read it seems that the holster you guys are suggesting is one of the top rated. I have also read about some people trimming it for a better fit. I guess I will be putting one on order shortly.

I just ordered a Supertuck. I would guess the trimming you're hearing about is what you can have them do for $7.50--Combat Cut. They trim the leather around the shape of the backstrap to make it easier to draw. I got the full package from them, horsehide, combat cut, and extra J-hooks (which I may never use, but for $5 it's good to have some options).
Now, I play the waiting game.... |

You'll hear all the same suggestions.
Supertuck K&D (nice! long wait) Comp-Tac Minotaur and then you'll hear from some other custom made makers. All in all they are all pretty good. As long as it is hand made you can't go wrong.

You are probably worried a little too much about printing. With a large gun such as you have (as I also have) you are going to print a little. Thats not illegal.
If you must not print, you will have to wear an overshirt with a few buttons done up so it doesnt flap open in a breeze. I wear my XD45 Service in a CompTac Minotaur at the 4oclock position. Sometimes I wear it with shorts and just a t-shirt and it works just fine. I dont worry about a minor print. If you want total concealment, get a smaller gun or wear a coat.
