squeaky!!

So I have a really nice leather carry belt that I love. I have a really nice leather holster for my XD, that I love. both are perfect. yet when they meet and are on my hip they squeak like the dikens!! there has got to be some way so that when I am carrying concealed no one hears me. I knew it was time to ask for help when the other day my buddy who I hadn't seen in months but knew I liked guns said to me "dude, you need an oil can for that holster?" as we walked to my truck to get something from there. granted i do not mind if my friends who are also into guns know that I carry, but i'd prefer to be silent. So what are ways i can minimize this?

I don't know...I'd probably try some silicon spray or wiping it with one of those silicon rags. That may or may not help..just brainstorming.

synchro,

You've got two options to stop the squeak that I know of, anyway.

The first is to rub talc or baby powder into the seams and stitching of both the holster and the belt. Pay special attention at the points where the two meet.

The other method is to rub candle wax onto the offending areas.

Hope that helps,

i had this same idea. and while it minimized it for a few days, the noise was still there, albeit lower, and came back shortly.

i will try the talc.

Don't ever use mink or neetsfoot oil (or any other oil) on leather holsters!

It will take care of the squeak, but by softening the leather too much, it will speed the death of your holster along, too.

alas nothing has worked so far. any other ideas? I did narrow it down to the holster though. when i was at my local shop, I tried on a new belt and I still had the squeak.
